Baseball Game Preview: Elba Tigers vs. Pike County Bulldogs

The Elba Tigers will take on the Pike County Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Elba is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Tigers on Friday. Elba put the hurt on Samson with a sharp 17-2 win. Elba not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 2, 2024.

Brady Johnson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, Easton McKelvy was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Three bases. while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Dylan Holley, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Elba always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .619. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Pike County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against Houston Academy, falling 17-0.

Elba now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Pike County, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
