Soccer Game Preview: Hagerty vs. Oviedo

The Hagerty Huskies will challenge the Oviedo Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Hagerty sitting on five straight wins and Oviedo on seven.

Hagerty's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Seminole, sneaking past 1-0. The Huskies' defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last three matches.

Their one-goal win came courtesy of Leonardo Garay, who's now up to seven this season.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Wednesday Oviedo sidestepped Lyman for a 3-2 victory. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 44th, while the Greyhounds are ranked 163rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Hagerty's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-0-2. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those four contests. As for Oviedo, their victory bumped their record up to 10-2-1.

Hagerty skirted past Oviedo 1-0 in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. Will Hagerty repeat their success, or does Oviedo have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
