Football Recap: Sierra Comes Up Short

After flying high against Sheldon last Friday, Sierra came back down to earth. The Timberwolves were beaten by the East Union Lancers 69-14 on Friday. The Timberwolves were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lancers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Sierra saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Darien East rushed for 241 yards and one touchdown while picking up 7.5 yards per carry. Those 241 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for East.

East Union's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kirk Simoni led the charge by throwing for 145 yards and three TDs on only 13 passes, while also rushing for 50 yards. Jp Abrew was in the mix as well, providing the Lancers with two scores.

Sierra now has a losing record of 2-3. As for East Union, they pushed their record up to 5-0 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, Sierra will take on Mountain House at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Timberwolves are facing the Mustangs at the right time seeing as the Mustangs are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for East Union, they will face off against Patterson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lancers will be up against the Tigers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 26.8 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
