Baseball Recap: Highland Wins Going Away Against Edison

While Highland didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past the Edison Tigers 12-1 on Tuesday. That 11 run margin sets a new team best for the Scots this season.

Jacob Berumen was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

Berumen wasn't the only one making solid contact as eight players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Santiago Blanco, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3. Another was Diego Hernandez, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Highland's record now sits at 5-1. As for Edison, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Highland will welcome Taft at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Highland is facing Taft at the right time seeing as Taft is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Edison, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Minarets at 6:30 p.m. Minarets' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Edison's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
