Baseball Recap: Seneca's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Seneca had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Travelers Rest Devildogs. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 13-1 last Tuesday.

Tyler Vassey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kade Scruggs and William Cutshall did most of the damage at the plate: Scruggs scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances, while Cutshall scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Seneca's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-1. As for Travelers Rest, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Seneca will take on Walhalla at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Seneca is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season. As for Travelers Rest, they will face off against Woodmont at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
