Softball Recap: Apex Friendship Wins Going Away Against Cary

Apex Friendship got themselves on the board against Cary on Thursday, but Cary never followed suit. They blew past the Imps 15-0. That looming 15-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Patriots yet this season.

Cheyenne Christman was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Christman was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, Sydney Joyce was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was India Matute, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Apex Friendship always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .700. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

The win (which was Apex Friendship's third in a row) raised their record to 8-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.7 runs over those games. As for Cary, they dropped their record down to 1-9 with the defeat, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season.

Apex Friendship and Cary will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matches. The next time Apex Friendship sees the field they'll take on Green Level at 4:30 p.m. on April 8. As for Cary, their break will end when they face Green Hope at 4:00 p.m. on April 8.
