The Boone Braves will challenge the Hagerty Huskies at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

After dropping their season opener at home, Hagerty is headed out to face a Braves team ready to give their home crowd a win. Boone fell 47-35 to Mars on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Braves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 139th in Florida, while the Fightin' Planets are ranked 29th in Pennsylvania).

Despite their loss, Boone saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Sam Johnson, who threw for 314 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 12.6 yards per attempt, was perhaps the best of all. Daniel Smith helped Johnson out on the ground, rushing for 70 yards and two touchdowns, while also picking up 30 receiving yards.

Meanwhile, Hagerty came into Friday's matchup having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They took down Lake Howell 31-14 on Friday.

Porter Williams had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 161 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries. His longest rush was for an incredible 74 yards. Another player making a difference was Jalon Lewis, who gained 165 total yards.

Hagerty was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 319 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2023.

One reason for the win was Hagerty's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. In that department, Ryan Davis was the leader with two.
