Basketball Recap: Grace Prep Comes Up Short

Fans were treated to a battle of the Lions on Tuesday. Grace Prep fell 56-43 to Coram Deo Academy. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Grace Prep came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 199th, while Coram Deo Academy is ranked 487th).

When it comes to explaining why Grace Prep lost, don't look at Zaria Howard. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 24 points and 13 rebounds. Howard is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 47% in the last three games she's played. Samara Anderson was another key player, dropping a double-double with 11 points and ten boards.

Selah Johnson had another great game (as she tends to do), putting up 39 points for Coram Deo Academy. Johnson has become a key player for Coram Deo Academy: the team is 15-6 when she posts at least 15 points, but 2-5 otherwise.

Grace Prep's loss dropped their record down to 23-9. As for Coram Deo Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-11.

Grace Prep didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 50-49 defeat against Grace Community on the 17th. Coram Deo Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
