Soccer Game Preview: Eastwood vs. Montwood

The Eastwood Troopers will square off against the Montwood Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Eastwood took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They never let Coronado onto the board and left with a 2-0 win. Given the Troopers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 127th, while the Thunderbirds are ranked 316th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Gael Zavala and Nathan Price scored both of Eastwood's goals, bringing their combined season tally to five goals.

Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, Montwood brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. They blew past Coronado 4-1 on Tuesday. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Rams' offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

Montwood's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 9-3-1. As for Eastwood, the win got them back to even at 5-5.

Eastwood might still be hurting after the 4-1 defeat they got from Montwood when the teams last played back in March of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Eastwood was down 3-0.
