Basketball Recap: First Baptist Academy Continues Home Dominance on Friday

First Baptist Academy had won four straight home games dating back to last season and Timothy De La Rosa did his part to make it five on Friday. The stars were shining brightly for the First Baptist Academy Eagles in a 46-30 victory over the River City Believers Academy Soldiers thanks in part to De La Rosa, who went 7 of 15 on his way to 18 points in addition to six steals and five boards. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game.

The team also got some help courtesy of Xaidyn McKennon, who posted ten points along with six boards and four steals. Those four steals gave him a new career-high.

Despite the defeat, River City Believers Academy had strong showings from Lukas Cox, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 boards, and Brennen McGuire, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. McGuire is becoming a predictor of River City Believers Academy's success: when he posts at least eight boards the team is 4-2 (and 0-4 when he doesn't).

First Baptist Academy has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.3 points per game. As for River City Believers Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.

First Baptist Academy will host Gloria Deo Academy at 3:30 p.m. on December 28th.
