Basketball Recap: Ireland Morgan Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Bellville

Caldwell lost to Bellville on January 3rd, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Monday. The Caldwell Hornets snuck past the Bellville Brahmas with a 46-40 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hornets.

Caldwell's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ireland Morgan, who posted 11 points. The dominant performance gave Morgan a new career-high in points. Ava Jones was another key player, putting up nine points.

Caldwell's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-15. As for Bellville, they dropped their record down to 9-15 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home.

Caldwell and Bellville could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Caldwell will face off against Navasota at 5:30 p.m. on Friday down 600 places (1115 vs. 515). Similarly, Bellville (ranked 1118th) will meet La Grange (ranked 483rd) at 5:45 p.m. on Friday.
