Basketball Recap: Skyridge Wins High-Profile Game Against Lehi

On Friday, Skyridge faced Lehi in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Skyridge Falcons came out on top against the Lehi Pioneers by a score of 58-45. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Falcons also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

Merceius Mili was her usual excellent self, going 8 of 16 en route to 25 points and six boards. Another player making a difference was Ellah Oeser, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 16 rebounds.

When it comes to explaining why Lehi lost, don't look at Mckenzie Jepson. Despite the final result, she went 5 for 8 on her way to 15 points and five assists. Jepson continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brynlee Cook, who posted seven points.

Skyridge's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-8. As for Lehi, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 10-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Skyridge will take on Pleasant Grove at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Skyridge is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52 points per game this season. As for Lehi, they will face off against Lone Peak at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lone Peak will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Lehi surely won't give up without a fight.
