Basketball Recap: Damon Heggie's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Vance County over J.F. Webb + How To Watch

Vance County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 52-46 heartbreaker at the hands of the J.F. Webb Warriors. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Vipers of the 59-41 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February.

Vance County's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Damon Heggie, who posted 20 points. Another player making a difference was Travis Whittler, who had eight points.

J.F. Webb's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Daniel Wright led the charge by dropping a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Kaylin Thorpe was another key player, putting up 12 points and five boards.

Vance County's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for J.F. Webb, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Vance County will venture away from home to take on South Granville at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for J.F. Webb, they will head out to face off against Person at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
