Recap: Coronado Cougars vs. Bishop Gorman Gaels
On Saturday, the Coronado Cougars faced the Bishop Gorman Gaels in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Coronado came out on top against Bishop Gorman by a score of 74-63. The win was familiar territory for Coronado who now have four in a row.
Coronado was led to victory by Lantz Stephenson and Josiah Cunningham. Stephenson scored 20 points along with five rebounds, while Cunningham scored 21 points. Stephenson has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonny Collins, who scored 13 points.
Coronado pushed their record up to 13-8 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.0 points per game. As for Bishop Gorman, their loss ended a 14-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-4.
Coronado will head out on the road to challenge Silverado at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Bishop Gorman, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Centennial at 6:30 p.m. One thing working in Centennial's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last ten contests.
