Baseball Game Preview: Heritage Academy Eagles vs. Grace Academy Knights

Heritage Academy is 2-8 against Grace Academy since April of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Eagles will square off against the Knights at 4:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Tuesday, Heritage Academy came up short against Martinsburg and fell 7-3. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Micah Wilson was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. Titus Britner was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Grace Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of Berkeley Springs by a score of 13-11.

Lawson Aikens put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Aikens wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Hudson Walls, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run. Walls is becoming a predictor of Grace Academy's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is 2-1 (and 4-6 when he doesn't). Denton Bible also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Grace Academy now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Heritage Academy, their record now sits at 7-7.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Heritage Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Grace Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Heritage Academy beat Grace Academy 8-3 in their previous meeting back in April. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
