Football Recap: Cranston East Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Cranston East can now relate to. They lost 32-6 to the Mt. Hope Huskies on Saturday. The defeat continues a trend for the Thunderbolts in their meetings with the Huskies: they've now lost three in a row.

Jovany Gonzalez threw for 87 yards and one TD on only eight passes. Daniel Perez was his top target, picking up 53 receiving yards. On the ground, Gavin Boylan rushed for 27 yards.

Robert Annis continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Mt. Hope, rushing for 110 yards and a pair of scores on only 15 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Rhynard, who rushed for 80 yards.

Cranston East's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Mt. Hope, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-2.

Cranston East has already played their next contest, a 35-34 defeat against North Providence on the 15th. As for Mt. Hope, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 34-0 win against East Greenwich on the 15th.
