Basketball Recap: Desert Mirage Comes Up Short

Desert Mirage was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They were dealt a 78-44 defeat at the hands of the Banning Broncos. Sadly, that's the third time they've come up short against the RAMS this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 71-45 last Tuesday.

Loss or not, Desert Mirage got some senior leadership from Victor Figueroa and Edy Espinoza. Figueroa almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds, while Espinoza posted 12 points. Those ten points gave Figueroa a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Omar Martinez, who earned ten points.

Desert Mirage's defeat dropped their record down to 5-16. As for Banning, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.

Desert Mirage has already played their next game, a 70-18 loss against Desert Hot Springs on the 4th. As for Banning, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 75-35 victory against Cathedral City on the 4th.
