Volleyball Recap: Irene/Wakonda Takes a Loss

After flying high against Parker/Marion on Thursday, Irene/Wakonda came back down to earth. The Eagles fell just short of the Alcester-Hudson Cubs by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Eagles have struggled against the Cubs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Irene/Wakonda started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 15-25, 20-25, 25-23, 25-23, 17-15.

Paige O'Daniel paced Irene/Wakonda's offense, picking up 26 kills. O'Daniel got some help from Reagan Rudd and her 44 assists. Maryn Lyngstad controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Irene/Wakonda's defeat dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Alcester-Hudson, with the win, they broke their three-match losing streak and moved their record to 6-14.

Irene/Wakonda wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Marty Indian on the 16th. Alcester-Hudson has also already played their next contest (against Beresford), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
