Basketball Recap: Northgate Comes Up Short

After soaring to 67 points the game before, Northgate was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They had to suffer through a 72-30 loss at the hands of the Clayton Valley Charter Ugly Eagles. The Broncos have struggled against the Ugly Eagles recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Marko Djurdjic was Northgate's leading scorer, having posted nine points. Dax Gordon held things down on the boards with five rebounds. He took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.

Cannon Simpson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Clayton Valley Charter, almost dropping a double-double with 19 points and nine assists. What's more, Simpson also posted an 80% shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in December of 2025. Another player making a difference was Vince Ellis, who went 7-for-8 on his way to 16 points.

Northgate's defeat dropped their record down to 11-14. As for Clayton Valley Charter, their win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-3.

Coming up, Northgate will square off against Mt. Diablo at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The Broncos will be up against the Red Devils' rather soft defense (which has allowed 66.69 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Clayton Valley Charter, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 63-48 victory against Weston Ranch on the 7th.
