Baseball Recap: Four Straight Home Victories for Bethany Community

Bethany Community posted their closest win since April 16, 2024 on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Leadership Academy Falcons 11-9. This was a revenge game for the Wolves: when they faced off against the Falcons last Tuesday, they had to take a 8-6 defeat.

Jacob Schick was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brooks McDowell, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4. Ryan Rudd also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Bethany Community's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for Leadership Academy, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 3-2.

Coming up, Bethany Community will look to defend their home field on Monday against Northeast Guilford at 4:00 p.m. As for Leadership Academy, they will head out to square off against Cornerstone Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cornerstone Charter is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.4 runs per game this season.
