Basketball Game Preview: Eastmark Firebirds vs. Combs Coyotes

The Eastmark Firebirds will venture away from home to take on the Combs Coyotes at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Eastmark is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

Last Thursday, Eastmark ended up a good deal behind ALA - Gilbert North and lost 72-58. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Monday (56), the Firebirds still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, Combs entered their matchup against Marcos de Niza on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Combs took a 66-48 bruising from Marcos de Niza. The Coyotes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The match pitted two dominant forwards against one another in Quinmetris Cunningham and James Steward. Steward had a great game and dropped a double-double on 30 points and 14 boards. Meanwhile, Cunningham did his best for the losing side, putting up nine points and seven rebounds.

Combs' defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 10-8. As for Eastmark, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 10-8.

Eastmark couldn't quite finish off Combs in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 and fell 66-64. Can Eastmark avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
