Volleyball Recap: West Laurens Takes a Loss

West Laurens lost against Mary Persons on September 4th, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Raiders took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs.

West Laurens may have fallen short, but they were sure consistent: they scored 13 points in every single set they played. The final score came out to 25-13, 25-13.

Emma Darley paced West Laurens' offense, picking up five kills. Darley got some help from Skylar Fountain and her five assists. Darley was also a major player on defense: she and she shared the team lead in blocks, finishing with two each.

West Laurens has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-17 record this season. As for Mary Persons, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 22-7.

After both having extra time off, West Laurens and Pike County will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mary Persons, they will square off against Baldwin at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
