Softball Recap: Moriarty Has No Trouble Against Espanola Valley

Moriarty won the last time they faced Espanola Valley and things went their way on Saturday too. The Pintos put the hurt on the Sundevils with a sharp 25-2 victory. The Pintos might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Isabella Gallegos made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.

In other batting news, Moriarty got a massive performance out of Emma Rodriguez, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Rodriguez has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Ruiz, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs.

Moriarty is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Espanola Valley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-13.

Moriarty will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Sundevils: the pair will be back at it again later today.
