Softball Recap: Wes-Del Warriors vs. Cowan Blackhawks
Wes-Del took care of business in their home opener on Friday (and then some). They put the hurt on the Cowan Blackhawks with a sharp 12-3 win. For Wes-Del, this counts as revenge for the 5-1 defeat Cowan walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2023.
Bailee West made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. West was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Wes-Del got a massive performance out of Kayla Harrold, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4. Kenzie Anderson was another key contributor, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
Cowan hasn't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.
Wes-Del will head out on the road to square off against Southwood at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Cowan, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 12-0 loss vs. Alexandria-Monroe on the 6th.
