Softball Recap: Floyd County Has No Trouble Against Carroll County

Floyd County's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They blew past the Carroll County Cavaliers 12-3. The result was nothing new for the Buffaloes, who have now won eight matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Emma Biesterveld made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Lilly Gillispie was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and one double. Kyra Vaughn was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Floyd County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Floyd County's record is now 11-5. As for Carroll County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Floyd County is set to square off against their familiar foe Alleghany at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Carroll County will challenge rival Patrick County at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
