Football Recap: Landon Roth Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Lincoln Christian

Milford lost to Lincoln Christian back in September of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 44-22 margin over the Crusaders. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by 21 points or more this season.

Milford's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Landon Roth, who threw for 193 yards and four TDs while completing 77.3% of his passes. Zeb Reil did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 65 receiving yards.

Milford's run defense was locked in: Lincoln Christian could only muster 2.4 yards per carry. While two picked up at least two total tackles, Reil stood above the rest. He picked up 65 receiving yards and a pair of scores. The dominant display was nothing new: Milford has now limited their opponent to fewer and fewer yards per carry in four consecutive contests.

Special teams played a big role in the game for Milford, adding 14 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Isaac Roth, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Although Lincoln Christian took the loss, they still got scores from Kade Stryker, Matthew Witt, and Jamison Thies.

Milford's record is now 4-1. As for Lincoln Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Milford will face off against Minden at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 941 yards in their previous games. As for Lincoln Christian, they will welcome Central City at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. The Crusaders will need to watch out since the Bison have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
