Baseball Game Preview: Clay County Bulldogs vs. Pickett County Bobcats

The Clay County Bulldogs will venture away from home to challenge the Pickett County Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Clay County has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with five straight defeats, while Pickett County will come in with four straight victories.

Clay County came up short against Westmoreland on Friday, falling 21-4.

Nolan Adams made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Waylon Cherry, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Pickett County won against Clarkrange on Monday with six runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Bobcats walked away with a 6-2 win over the Buffaloes.

John Reels made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Eli Reagan, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Brandon Smith also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Pickett County's record now sits at 7-5. As for Clay County, their loss dropped their record down to 5-10.

Clay County came up short against Pickett County in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 6-3. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
