Basketball Recap: Covenant Academy Takes a Loss

After flying high against Central Georgia Arts last Tuesday, Covenant Academy came back down to earth. The Covenant Academy Rams fell just short of the David Emanuel Academy Eagles by a score of 56-54 on Friday. The Rams were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 53-31.

Despite the loss, Covenant Academy still got an impressive performance from Ryan Stevens, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 15 rebounds. Stevens is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last 15 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben McGhee, who posted 11 points and six assists.

Even though they lost, Covenant Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as David Emanuel Academy only posted nine assists.

David Emanuel Academy was led to victory by Peyton Lee and Karson Kettles. Lee earned 18 points and seven rebounds, while Kettles dropped a double-double on 11 points and 15 boards. Those 15 rebounds gave Kettles a new career-high. Peyton Templeton also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Covenant Academy's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-11. As for David Emanuel Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-12.

Covenant Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 59-41 win against John Hancock Academy on the 4th. As for David Emanuel Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 66-28 defeat against Thomas Jefferson Academy on the 4th.
