Basketball Recap: Sunnyslope Vikings vs. Cactus Shadows Falcons
Sunnyslope had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They simply couldn't be stopped on Wednesday as they easily beat the Cactus Shadows Falcons 86-35. For the Vikings, this counts as revenge for the 59-47 win the Falcons walked away with the last time they faced one another back in November of 2021.
Leading Sunnyslope to victory were Teagan McIlroy and Kylie Rarrick. McIlroy dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 assists, while Rarrick went 7 for 11 en route to 19 points plus five steals. McIlroy is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 21 games she's played dating back to last season. Sophia Agullard was another key player, as she made all 5 shots she took racking up 13 points.
Sunnyslope will head out to take on Perry at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Cactus Shadows, they will take on Gilbert in a tournament on Wednesday.
