Softball Recap: Piedmont Highlanders vs. Piner Prospectors

Piedmont and Piner squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Piedmont had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Prospectors by a score of 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Highlanders have suffered since April 14th.

Miya Fujimoto was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She struck out seven batters over 6.1 innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Fujimoto was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Sa'Mara Levi and Angelina Wu stepped up to the plate in a big way. Levi went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double, while Wu went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. That double marked the first that Wu has hit this season.

Piedmont's defeat dropped their record down to 14-11. As for Piner, they pushed their record up to 17-8 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home.
