Basketball Recap: South Gibson Picks Up Eighth Consecutive Win

South Gibson extended their winning streak to eight on Tuesday, bumping them up to 21-4. They claimed a resounding 63-36 victory over the Haywood Tomcats. The Hornets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 games by 20 points or more this season.

As for Haywood, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 175th, while South Gibson is ranked 19th).

When it comes to explaining why Haywood lost, don't look at Camariya Woodland. Despite the final result, she shot 46% from the field on her way to 20 points and five steals. That was a full 55.6% of the Tomcats' points, marking the eighth time in a row Woodland has posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Zamaria Murphy, who scored nine points.
