Football Recap: Fieldcrest Takes a Loss

If Fieldcrest was riding high fresh off their 48-0 takedown of Walther Christian Academy last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Knights took a blow against the Ridgeview/Lexington Mustangs on Friday, falling 46-8. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 435th, while the Mustangs are ranked 201st).

Despite the loss, Fieldcrest still got an impressive performance from Lucas Anson, who rushed for 120 yards while picking up 7.1 yards per carry, and also caught one score. Anson's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 102 rushing yards.

Fieldcrest dropped their record down to 1-6 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Ridgeview/Lexington, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

Fieldcrest didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 34-6 defeat against Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley on the 17th. As for Ridgeview/Lexington, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 28-19 loss against Deer Creek-Mackinaw on the 17th.
