Basketball Game Preview: Mora Rangers/Rangerettes vs. Mesa Vista Trojans

The Mora Rangers/Rangerettes will face off against the Mesa Vista Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The timing isn't great for Mora: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Mesa Vista has snatched up four consecutive wins on the road.

Mora will bounce into Thursday's match after beating Escalante, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. Mora managed a 33-27 win over Escalante on Saturday.

Meanwhile, everything went Mesa Vista's way against Penasco on Saturday as Mesa Vista made off with a 68-46 victory. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while the Panthers are ranked 87th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mesa Vista is also on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.7 points per game. As for Mora, their win bumped their record up to 11-9.
