Basketball Recap: Marshall Comes Up Short on the Road Against Baldwin Park

Marshall kicked off their season on the road on Monday and hit a couple of potholes. They took a 58-43 bruising from the Baldwin Park Braves. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it 14 in a row.

Eric Avila had another great game (as he tends to do), dropping a double-double with 31 points and 11 rebounds for Baldwin Park. That makes it three consecutive games in which Avila has scored at least a third of the Braves' points. Andy Flores was another key player, putting up six points and four steals.

Baldwin Park's win bumped their record up to 5-2.

Looking ahead, Marshall will take on Monrovia at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Baldwin Park, they will challenge Mountain View at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Braves will be up against the Vikings' rather soft defense (which has allowed 55.86 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
