Football Recap: Poteau Starts Season with Win at Home

Poteau took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Friday. They blew past the Booneville Bearcats 28-0. This was payback for the Pirates, who suffered a 14-10 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Spencer Perry was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 187 yards while picking up 8.1 yards per carry. Poteau also got a significant boost from Sam Tecla, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 95 yards.

Poteau wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 21-14 victory against McAlester on the 5th. As for Booneville, they have also already played their next game, a 34-27 loss against Ozark on the 5th.
