Recap: Alhambra Bulldogs vs. Piedmont Highlanders

The Alhambra Bulldogs had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They claimed a resounding 49-14 victory over Piedmont at home. Considering Alhambra has won five contests by more than 34 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Beau Blau was his usual excellent self, rushing for 159 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.4 yards per carry, and also throwing for 151 yards and two touchdowns on only ten passes. Blau is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Shea Murphy, who rushed for 91 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries.

Alhambra has yet to lose a matchup at home this season, leaving them with a 8-4 record. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-10 Ygnacio Valley and 3-7 Sonoma Valley (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 38.7% over those games). As for Piedmont, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-4.

Alhambra will head out on the road to face off against Miramonte at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given how much these teams ran in their prior games. Piedmont does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
