Basketball Recap: Broome Find Success

If Blacksburg wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Broome, they should've done a better job of containing Damarius Jeter. The Broome Centurions secured a 52-47 W over the Blacksburg Wildcats on Friday thanks in part to Jeter, who went 9 for 18 on his way to 20 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Jeter is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season.

Blacksburg lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Saad Lavender, who posted nine points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Cobb, who had 11 points and eight rebounds.

Broome's victory bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Blacksburg, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Broome will challenge Chesnee at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Chesnee will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Broome surely won't give up without a fight. As for Blacksburg, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Blacksburg Wildcats face off against the Chapman Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Chapman is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.2 points per game this season.
