William Lee leads Oakwood Academy to victory over Tanner

Recap: Oakwood Academy Mustangs vs. Tanner Rattlers

Even though the Tanner Rattlers scored an imposing 65 points on Saturday, the Oakwood Academy Mustangs still came out on top. Oakwood Academy sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 67-65 win over Tanner. The win made it back-to-back wins for Oakwood Academy.

Oakwood Academy can attribute much of their success to William Lee, who scored 26 points. Those 26 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaiden Morton, who scored 16 points.

Tanner's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Skylar Townsend, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Townsend scored a full 27.7% of Tanner's points, the eighth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Endymion Tyus was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six steals.

Oakwood Academy's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-10. As for Tanner, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oakwood Academy will face off against Sparkman at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Sparkman is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home. As for Tanner, they will head out on the road to face off against Elkmont at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Elkmont has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 8.
