Soccer Game Preview: Warhill vs. Jamestown

Warhill hasn't had much luck against Jamestown recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Lions will look to defend their home pitch against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Warhill's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Lancaster 8-0. Given Warhill's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 31st, while Lancaster are ranked 216th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Jamestown came tearing into Friday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.8 goals), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Bruins with a sharp 3-0 win. Jamestown's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last five games.

Jamestown's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those five contests. As for Warhill, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2-2 record this season.

Warhill skirted past Jamestown 2-1 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
