Football Recap: McGuffey Comes Up Short

McGuffey played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the Central Valley Warriors and fell 49-6. The Highlanders were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-0.

A big part of Central Valley's win came down to the chemistry between Braddock Ambrose and his top target Aaron Lawson. Ambrose threw for 164 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 11 passes while Lawson gained 114 total yards and a touchdown.

McGuffey's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Central Valley, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McGuffey will face off against North Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Highlanders will need to watch out since the Trojans have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for Central Valley, they will square off against Beaver at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 1,043 yards in their previous games.
