Basketball Recap: Volcano Vista Skates Past Cibola with Ease

Volcano Vista won the last time they faced Cibola and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Volcano Vista Hawks really took it to the Cibola Cougars for the full four quarters, racking up a 59-32 victory. Given the Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 12th, while the Cougars are ranked 61st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Volcano Vista's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mia Zuniga, who went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc on her way to 20 points and six steals. With that strong performance, Zuniga is now averaging an impressive 2 steals per game. Zoey Loretto was another key player, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds.
