Baseball Recap: Davenport's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Davenport ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over the Oklahoma Bible Trojans. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Bulldogs as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Tyler Gilkison made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Gilkison was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Chase Mitchell, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Laken Durbin, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Davenport's win bumped their record up to 15-8. As for Oklahoma Bible, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 17-14 record.
