Volleyball Recap: Klaire Cherry and Hannah Slaughter Secure Win for Ridgecroft

Ridgecroft had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Albemarle School on Tuesday. The Rams blew past the Colts 3-0. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-1 on September 9th.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Ridgecroft took every set by at least 14 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-11, 25-11, 25-6.

Leading Ridgecroft to victory were Hannah Slaughter and Klaire Cherry. Slaughter had five aces, while Cherry had 28 aces and 13 kills. Cherry is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had five or more in each of the last nine games she's played.

They weren't the only good servers: Ridgecroft was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 40 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least eight aces in ten consecutive contests.

Ridgecroft pushed their record up to 14-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Albemarle School, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season.
