Basketball Recap: Boquet Valley's Run of Three Straight Wins Now Over

If Boquet Valley was feeling good fresh off their 82-36 takedown of Newcomb Central last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Boquet Valley Griffins took a 43-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chazy Eagles. The Griffins were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 47-23.

When it comes to explaining why Boquet Valley lost on Wednesday, don't look at Claire Reynolds. Despite the final result, she went 10 of 23 en route to 21 points along with five boards and five steals. That was a full 55.3% of Boquet Valley's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Pulsifer, who scored two points in addition to six rebounds and six steals.

Even though they lost, Boquet Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Chazy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Emma Howell led the charge by putting up 20 points and three steals. That's the most points Howell has posted since back in February of 2024. Carly LaPierre was another key player, earning 15 points along with six boards and four steals.

Boquet Valley moved to 6-3 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Chazy, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Boquet Valley will face off against Bolton Central at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Chazy has already played their next matchup (against Saranac Lake), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
