Soccer Preview: Purcell vs. Harrah
The Purcell Dragons will head out on the road to face off against the Harrah Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Purcell sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over Atoka. The victory was just what Purcell needed coming off of a 4-1 loss in their prior matchup.
Meanwhile, Harrah had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 goals), and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They never let the Wampus Cats onto the board and left with a 7-0 win. Harrah found success even though the refs didn't miss a thing: four Harrah players were handed yellow cards.
Their offense was hitting Atoka from everywhere, as six different players booted in a goal.
Brayden Varney led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by himself.
Purcell's victory bumped their record up to 3-7. As for Harrah, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5-1 record this season.
