Football Recap: Grace Skates Past Carpinteria with Ease

Grace won the last time they faced Carpinteria and things went their way on Friday too. The Lancers simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Warriors 52-20. The result was nothing new for the Lancers, who have now won three matchups by 26 points or more so far this season.

Grace's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from RIley Williams, who threw for 251 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 90 yards and one TD on only six carries. Williams' passing game has become a key predictor of the Lancers' success: the team is 3-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise. Jake Williams helped out on the ground, rushing for 167 yards and a rushing touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Grace was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 280 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

Another reason for the win was Grace's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. TJ Moore was especially locked on to Carpinteria's QB and sacked him twice. Moore is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least seven every time he's taken the field this season. Landon Cooper got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Carpinteria's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isaac Neri, who rushed for 69 yards and one score on only eight carries, and also threw for 139 yards and one TD. Neri got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 63 yards.

Grace now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Carpinteria, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.

Coming up, Grace will be playing at home against Nordhoff at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rangers will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Lancers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Carpinteria, they are taking a road trip to take on Del Sol at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors will be up against the Jaguars' rather soft defense (which has allowed 44.17 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
