Basketball Game Preview: Field Falcons vs. Cloverleaf Colts

Field and Cloverleaf are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2020, but not for long. The Field Falcons will be playing at home against the Cloverleaf Colts at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

Last Monday, Field was able to grind out a solid victory over Hathaway Brown, taking the game 53-42. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 240th, while the Blazers are ranked 528th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Cloverleaf hadn't done well against Woodridge recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Cloverleaf was the clear victor by a 66-43 margin over Woodridge. The Colts have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Cloverleaf's win came from a few key players Field will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kinsey Bayer, who went 6 of 11 on her way to 15 points and four steals. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in assists (three). Another player making a difference was Emma Hibler, who made all 8 shots she took racking up 18 points.

Cloverleaf smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 19 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Field is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. As for Cloverleaf, their win bumped their record up to 13-4.

Field barely slipped by Cloverleaf when the teams last played back in December of 2024, winning 44-43. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Cloverleaf's Evie Barth, who posted 18 points and eight boards.
