Baseball Game Preview: Springville Red Devils vs. Timpview Thunderbirds

The Springville Red Devils will face off against the Timpview Thunderbirds at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Timpview took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Springville, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with ten losses in a row, Springville turned things around against Maple Mountain on Friday. They won by a run and slipped past the Eagles 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Red Devils have posted since March 25th.

Boston Platt looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Hugh Redd, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs and two doubles. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (three). Another player making a difference was Preston Hansen, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

Springville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .441. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Timpview was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They came up short against Spanish Fork, falling 21-5.

Cristopher Santiago made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI. Cole Engemann was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Springville's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-9 and their overall record up to 6-14. As for Timpview, their loss dropped their record down to 7-14.
