On Sunday Maloney's undefeated season almost came to an end. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 53-51 victory over the Xavier Falcons. The 53-point effort marked the Spartans' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Maloney's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Xavier, they moved to 5-2 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Maloney will square off against Southington at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans will be up against the Blue Knights' rather soft defense (which has allowed 60.75 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Xavier, they will challenge Shelton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
