Basketball Recap: Sissonville Falls Short Against Ranked Grafton

On Saturday, Sissonville faced Grafton in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Sissonville Indians took a 65-47 bruising from the Grafton Bearcats. The Indians were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bearcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2016.

When it comes to explaining why Sissonville lost, don't look at Kynadee Britton. Despite the final result, she posted 30 points. That was a full 63.8% of Sissonville's points, marking the fourth time in a row Britton has had more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Makaela Ullman, who put up nine points in addition to six assists and five rebounds.

Kenna Keener continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Grafton, dropping a double-double with 33 points and 12 boards. Those 33 points gave Keener a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Hadley Horne, who almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds.

Sissonville's loss dropped their record down to 17-5. As for Grafton, they pushed their record up to 20-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Sissonville will welcome Hoover at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Grafton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
